Our History

Honorable founder Mrs. Manorama Joshi had been established the SEWA (Self employed women’s Association) M.P in 01 May 1985.  SEWA registered under trade union. Initially, 200 working women established the Sewa and from its beginning it has been working for the entitlement of the self employed unorganized sector women and giving them benefits of the government schemes. It is a union and today scenario over 6 lakh 45 thousand women’s has connected. SEWA M.P. is working in 14 Districts in M.P.

SEWA union worked hard for problem solving of the women and as the result of this “Mahila Bachat Kosh” was established for their saving. At the beginning only five women deposit 50 rupees each in “Bachat Kosh”. Unorganized sector self employed women’s come together and took foundation of the Self employed Women Sakha  Sahakarity Maryadit in 1989 and form the 03 April 1986 started regular saving and loan accounts. Women were deposit 500 rupees as a share capital and 50 rupees admission fee.

Cooperative was started their work in Mhow block in year 2000 and also registered under cooperative act in year 2002.

It is only the women based biggest cooperative society in state where the all working women of unorganized sectors has associated with the cooperative movement.

What the Society does

Society organized the working women and helps them for their economic development through providing them small micro finance. They are exploited when they take loan from the moneylender. They pay double rate of interest from you as a result your conditions are becoming poor to poorest and never have you boosted up from this situation. Society will help them to reduce loan and encourage for saving and micro finance for their economic development.

Goal and objective

“Upliftment economic status of the unorganized sectors women and link with them country mainstream.”

  • Encourage the unorganized sector women for saving and make them habitual for it.
  • Provide them micro finance on low interest rate.
  • Work for social and economic development of working women and improve their self respect and self reliance.
  • Improve their financial literacy understanding through financial literacy campaign.
